Fifteen Years of Music, Memories, and Mayhem

Well… It’s Been a Minute (Again)

If you’ve been wondering where we’ve been—same place as always: juggling day jobs, surgeries, backyard projects, and somehow still squeezing in rehearsals and gigs. You know, the glamorous rock-and-roll lifestyle.

Between all that, Emily and Andy decided to become gardeners (farmers?) last year. It boomed from a small space into a full on terraced garden. If you need tomatoes, seriously; call them. They went from “let’s try a few plants” to full-on canning like they were born into it. Beginner’s luck is real, folks.

Speaking of surgeries… Mark is officially part human, part machine. New knees and now bionic wrists. He’s still healing up, so you may see the fifth Messenger, Eric, jumping in with us at a few shows this year. We love Eric. We also love his wife Becky—who fully understands both our sense of humor and our questionable love of Fireball shots. That’s true friendship.

This past year also brought some hard moments. Emily’s mom passed away, and if you’ve been around The Messengers for any length of time, you probably met her. She was a huge supporter of the band and showed up to a lot of our early shows. Cheering us on, front and center. Some songs will always hit a little differently now. Runaround Sue made the list for her, and anything by The Who will forever matter a bit more especially knowing that’s who Emily’s parents went to see on their first date. Music has a funny way of holding memories like that.

And because life is nothing if not a mix of heavy and joyful, we’re right back into our annual St. Patrick’s Day marathon. Why do we know so many Irish songs?? Honestly… we don’t even question it anymore. At this point, it’s muscle memory. Come have some green beer with us!

The good news? Summer is shaping up to be big again. Festivals, parks, hometown favorites, and a few surprises sprinkled in. We’re also officially entering Year 15 of The Messengers (yes, really). Fun fact: our very first show was in October of 2011. Same band, same original members, just a little more road-worn and apparently more surgically enhanced.

So thanks for sticking with us—even when we forget to blog. Come see us this spring and summer, say hi, request a song, and maybe ask Emily about tomatoes if you’re feeling brave.

See you out there 🤘
