Labor Day Weekend, September 4 - 6, Downtown Highwood

Musicians from around the country descend upon Highwood once again as Celebrate Highwood transforms Downtown Highwood into Nashville’s Honky Tonk Row for the ninth Annual Nashwood (Nashville+Highwood) Music and Food Fest. Attendees of all ages are encouraged to don their cowboy boots and hats over Labor Day Weekend, September 4 - 6, for three days of FREE live country, bluegrass, blues, classic, contemporary, and Southern rock music, as well as Southern-inspired food and drink specials.

The sounds of Nashville will permeate the air as music lovers stroll the streets of Downtown Highwood, enjoying FREE performances throughout many venues with live music indoors and outdoors, all within one weekend. There are no cover charges, but in true Nashville style, tips are always welcome to support the musicians! Nashwood will run Friday: 5 PM-bar close, Saturday: 2 PM-bar close, Sunday: 2-8 PM.

This year they are focusing fundraising efforts on exterior improvements. They want to create incredible curb appeal as you drive up to our VFW post and will be raising money to paint the entire exterior in one uniform color. The brick will remain the same and every other surface will be painted one complimentary color. They will also update the paint on all the handrails and staircases. Beautifying the VFW helps with the rentals of Kendall Hall and ultimately that money goes to help all of our Veterans.

Enjoy an evening outside on the grounds of the Arlington Heights Historical Museum for Irish Fest! Bring your lawn chair or picnic blanket and enjoy Irish music. Food and drinks are available for purchase. This FREE event runs from 5-10PM. We will play from 8-9:45pm.

The Final Mile: Adam Sandovals's Great American Convoy Celebration! This is more than a ride — it’s a celebration of freedom, community, and giving back. Come be part of an unforgettable day as riders from across the country make their way to Milwaukee for the final stop.

Plus, Harley-Davidson has generously contributed a 2026 Liberty Edition Road Glide to the Great American Convoy, and it will be awarded at the final dealership stop of the tour. Guests who attend a participating dealership stop while the Convoy is on-site can scan the official QR code available at the event to enter.

Ride in, bring your crew, and help us give the Convoy the Milwaukee welcome it deserves. The Great American Convoy helps raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project. Live music from The Messengers, 12-3pm.
